Bernard Beckett, born in Featherston, New Zealand in 1967, is one of the country's most outstanding youth book writers. Since 1999, he has published ten novels, including some of the most important literary awards of New Zealand. He is a passionate high school teacher for the subjects of business, English, mathematics and drama and lives with his wife and the two twin sons near Wellington.

Bernard Beckett understands how to entangle believable characters in drastic plots. With his fundamental questions about humanity and free will, Bernard Beckett particularly addresses young adults. The author draws not only dramatically from his experiences but also humanly - and "knows as a teacher exactly what is captivating for young readers, but is also reasonable". (German magazine)
