Ulrich Hub, born in 1963, originally comes from Tübingen and now lives in Berlin. He is a trained actor and director and works at various theaters. His writing debut was as a playwright in 1997. Today, he still primarily writes plays, which have received many awards.

The children’s books Foxes Don’t Lie and A Kangaroo Like You were also plays before Hub reworked them into prose for his books. Hub undoubtedly has a weakness for animal protagonists, and his background in theater reflects in his books, especially in his sharp, witty dialogue. His adept writing makes seemingly familiar topics bright and new, and he skillfully uses humor to expose and overcome prejudice.
