Edward van de Vendel, Netherlands

Edward van de Vendel, born in Leerdam in 1964, is one of the most renowned children's book authors in the Netherlands. He initially worked as a teacher, before turning exclusively to writing in 2011. His published works include more than 50 picture books, children's and teen books, non-fiction titles, , and books of poetry. Edward van de Vendel has received numerous awards for his work, including the German Youth Literature Prize. He has also been awarded the Zilveren Griffel several times, which is the most important Dutch prize for children's literature.

His novels, picture books and poems have been translated into several languages. Edward van de Vendel lives in Rotterdam.

Edward van de Vendel will be accompanied by Dr. Katja Wiebe, specialist for Slavic and Baltic Literature at the International Youth Library.
