Piotr Karski, Poland

Piotr Karski, born in Warsaw in 1987, studied graphic design at the Warsaw Art Academy. During his studies he illustrated classic children's books by Jan Brzechwa and Julian Tuwim. In the meantime, he has made a name for himself with his unusual children's non-fiction books both nationally and internationally.

He dedicated his debut (2013) to Polish "pioneers" such as Marie Curie, who made significant inventions and scientific discoveries. His hands-on books, Berge! (2016) (Mountains) and Meer! (2017) (Ocean), are comprehensive, surprising explorations of special habitats for plants and animals - but also for humans - and show the great fascination that both natural landscapes can inspire.

When Piotr Karski does not work at his desk in Warsaw, he enjoys hiking in the mountains.
