Sylvain Rivard was born in Montréal, Quebec, Canada and is an expert on Native American culture in North America. He is a maternal descendant of the Abenaki people who belong to the First Nations (Premières Nations) of Canada. The multi-talented artist, who studied fine and performing arts in Montréal and Québec, collected the fairy tales and myths of his ancestors and appeared as a narrator, dancer, musician, singer and mediator of the Abenaki culture. He take encouragement from his comprehensive knowledge of pre-colonial history, language and culture in Canada and New England. Because of this knowledge, he is also in demand as a consultant to museums as well as film and television productions in Europe and North America.
