Tamta Melaschwili (born 1979) is one of the most outstanding voices of the young literary scene in her country. She began writing during a stay in Germany in 2008 and completed her studies of "gender studies" in Budapest. In her literary and academic work, she is primarily concerned with gender roles and women's rights. She is currently working on the "50 Women from Georgia" research project.

Her first novel "Gatwla" (Counting) was awarded with the national literature award of Georgia "Saba" in 2011. This title also received the German Literature Award in 2013.
