Jean-Claude Mourlevat (born 1952) is one of the most prestigious youth book authors in France. He lives with his family on the banks of the Loire near Saint-Étienne. After a few professional years as a German teacher, he allocated to the theater from 1986 on, first as an actor, clown and mime, later also as a director with productions by Brecht, Cocteau and Shakespeare. The polyphony of his work, dramaturgical security, liveliness, depth and also humor in the design of scenes and dialogues feed on this long-standing experience.

2014 Jean-Claude Mourlevat was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
