Nils Mohl, born in 1971, lives with his family in his hometown Hamburg. He studied literature science in Kiel, Tübingen and Berlin as well as cultural management in Weimar. He worked on building sites and sat at the cash desk of a department store. Today he earns his living as an advertising writer and lecturer for writing techniques at the University of Hamburg. He achieved first literary success with his short stories, for which he was awarded several times, twice with the MDR literature prize and twice with the literature promotion award of the city of Hamburg.

Nils Mohl is great at describing intense moments and creates an atmosphere that captures young people's vitality. Comparisons to the films of Michelangelo Antonioni or also to "Short Cuts" after the short stories of the admired Raymond Carver are close.
