Bjørn F. Rørvik was born in 1964 and grew up in Østre Jevnaker in the Norwegian state of Hadeland and lives today in Oslo. He studied Media and Communication at Norways’s Volda University College. Among other things he has run a movie theatre, worked as a radio technician, and written for a local newspaper. Today Bjørn F. Rørvik is one of the most beloved children’s book writers in Norway. For his “Billy goats at the swimming pool” he and illustrator Gry Moursund were awarded the picture book prize of the Norwegian Ministry of Culture. An international success, the story was also adapted for the stage.
Whether battling the “spotty disease” with marzipan pie in “Fuchs & Ferkel” or choosing the brand-new leopard pattern shoes to go on a dragon hunt in “Two little knights”, Bjørn F. Rørvik enjoys setting the stage for anti-heroes. His stories sparkle with humour and original ideas. They stimulate imitation and lead to further conversations. Bjørn F. Rørvik knows a lot about animals, especially about birds, and enjoys taking author tours – through Norway and other countries.
The events with Bjørn F. Rørvik are moderated by Dr. Ines Galling, the specialist for German and Scandinavian literatures at the International Youth Library.
