Emma Karinsdotter, Sweden

Emma Karinsdotter was born in 1965 and grew up in Ronneby in a home filled with stuffed fish, rescued birds and flea market treasures. Today she lives in Malmö. After working for a few years in the music business – as project manager, concert promoter or concert tour manager – she published her first lyrical prose novel for adults in 2014. This was followed by her children’s book debut Lisbet och Sambakungen (Lisbet and the Sambaking). Since then Emma Karinsdotter has been writing for children, teenagers and adults.

Her anarchic children’s book is the best kind of inspiration: “Lisbet och Sambakungen” is full of wordplay and smoothly tosses all kinds of gender stereotypes overboard. At the end of the book, the German edition of which is illustrated by Lilli L’Arronge, there is a recipe for ice cream lasagne with gobs of chocolate sauce.

The events with Emma Karinsdotter will be moderated by Ines Galling the expert for German and Scandinavian Literatures at the International Youth Library. They will be accompanied by Lilli Lorenz as speaker.
