M. G. Leonard was born in 1974 in Torquay in Devon, England, and now lives in Brighton with family, dog, cat, and many exotic bugs. She wrote her first book at the age of twelve. Before devoting herself to a literary career, she worked in the music business, as a professional actor, and as a digital producer for, among others, the National Theatre and the Royal Opera House. Then she decided to study literature and completed her master’s degree in Shakespearean Studies.
In 2016 M.G. Leonard landed an international bestseller that was published in 35 countries. The success of this quirky debut titled “Beetle Boy” led her to become vice president of the insect aid society, Buglife. The following volumes of her Beetle trilogy and the six-volume series of “Adventures on trains” won many awards and were translated into numerous languages. M. G. Leonard writes for young and young-at-heart readers who love animals and nature. Beginning in 2021 with “Twitch” she began an exciting crime adventure series about birds, courage, and friendship.
The events with M. G. Leonard are moderated by Claudia Söffner, the specialist for English-language literature at the International Youth Library.
