It is little Tiger’s birthday. Throughout the day, guests drop in: young and old tigers, friends and relatives. The entire forest is full of tigers. They play together and romp about, climbing trees and gorging themselves on cake. But in the evening, after everyone has taken leave, little Tiger is overcome with a huge sadness. When he discovers that his stripes have shifted, he becomes anxious. He shouldn’t be worried, his mother reassures him, “it is only because you are growing.” But little Tiger does not want to grow and certainly not become an adult. He is quite sure that the grownups do not know how to really have fun. Little Tiger would prefer to be just a little bit big. A picture book that inspires reflection: How would I like to be when I grow up someday? And who do I want to be? What am I looking forward to?
