This is not what Zyx expected the alternative to going-to-bed would be like. After a loud BOOM! the little yellow creature with button eyes and a trunk is catapulted directly from the bathroom into a place with 700 doors. Door number 17 leads it on a daring journey to buccaneer brides, hungry otters, flying whales and friendly crocodiles. Comic book artist Flix tells this wildly rhyming story against the grain. Zyx’s name consists of the last three letters of the alphabet and that says it all, since this comic rolls out the whole alphabet from back to front. Spryly and boisterously, Flix makes use of a treasury of literary allusions, turning ABC verses on their heads, interweaving them with bedtime stories and spicing them up with so much action that it gets to be too much even for a Zyx: “I like adventures and all that stuff, but now I would really like to go to bed.” And with a BOOM! it finds itself back in the bathroom – where brushing its teeth has never been as much fun!
