Flix, Germany

Flix was born in 1976 in Münster as Felix Görmann. Today he lives and works in Berlin. He got his nickname when he was a child. After discovering comics as a teenager, he enrolled in Communication Studies at the Saar College of the Applied Arts in Saarbrücken. His first comic, “held” (engl: hero) was written as his diploma thesis and published in 2002. Since then Flix has been a freelance artist and established himself as one of Germany’s most successful comic book artists. The story “Spirou in Berlin”, with which he became the first non-francophone artist to be invited to contribute to the comic book series “Spirou in…”, has sold over 40,000 copies. Most recently he was curator of the highly regarded exhibition “Uderzo – from Asterix to Magic Potion” in Berlin. His frequently autobiographical comics have been translated into nine foreign languages. They have won numerous awards, such as the “Max and Moritz Preis” as well as the “PENG! Preis”.

Flix describes his comic book readings as a kind of “slow cinema” because he reads the texts aloud that go along with the images on the screen. The result is an audiovisual experience that brings the drawn figures to life in a gripping manner. At the festival, Flix will read from his crazy, backward ABC book “Zyx”, which has just been included on the 2025 list of “Lyrikempfehlungen für Kinder” (Poetry book recommendations for children).
