Mo Abbas, France
Mo Abbas was born in 1972 in Algeria and has lived in Marseille since his early teens. He studied philosophy and journalism and engaged in creative pursuits such as photography, documentary filmmaking and radio. Today he works primarily as a writer and musician. In 2020 he founded a culinary community magazine named “Ingrédient”.
The multi-talented artist develops poetic-musical projects for a very wide range of age groups and contexts – from primary school to senior citizen homes, from libraries to open venues, and even for prisons. His playful approach to language opens doors and inspires an appetite for poetry. At this year’s White Ravens Festival, Mo Abbas is presenting a musical poetry programme. In addition, he will take walks through the city and countryside with children while capturing his observations in lyrical soundscapes. He will be travelling with his guitar and two illustrated volumes of poetry: “Macadam, courir les rues” (Macadam, running through the streets), which was given special mention at the 2022 Bologna Ragazzi Awards, and "L'homme sans paysage"(The man with no country).
