8th White Ravens Festival for International Children's and Youth Literature

13 - 17 July 2025

About the Festival

Under the patronage of the Bavarian State Minister for Science and the Arts, the International Youth Library is organizing the White Ravens Festival for International Children's and Youth Literature for the eighth time in the summer of 2025. For five days, authors from Germany and abroad will read from their books for children and young adults, lead workshops and writing workshops, and talk about themselves and their work in panel discussions. The festival offers space for renowned, multi-award-winning writers as well as for new literary discoveries and creates a bridge between cultures with German and international events on the program. The focus is on encounters between the international guests and the mostly young audience.

In the International Youth Library, "White Ravens" has for many years designated exceptional and innovative children's and youth books from all over the world, which stand for linguistic, content-related and artistic quality and are outstanding examples of a country's children's literary culture. Many "White Ravens" titles provide impulses, set new trends and deal with topics that occupy children and young people. And they do so with surprising twists, their own tone and unusual images.

The main venue of the festival is Blutenburg Castle, home of the International Youth Library. In addition, the authors can be experienced throughout Bavaria in libraries, schools, museums, youth and cultural centers, bookstores and other venues.
